DEATH OF MR. C. S. DERR

Mr. Charles S. Derr, of this city, father of Charles H. Derr, of Baltimore and W. E. Derr by a former marriage and Oscar D., Arthur N. and Rush U. Derr by a second marriage, died at his residence, No. 816 Buchanan Street, Monday evening at 6 o'clock at the ripe old age of ninety-one years, after a short illness.

Mr. Derr was an old citizen of this city, coming here from Richmond in 1856 and had a large circle of friends, and an aged wife, in her eighty-second year, who mourn his loss. His remains will be buried in the Presbyterian cemetery beside his son, the late Rush U. Derr.

Funeral services will be held at College Hill Baptist church this evening at 5 o'clock. Rev. Judson Davidson officiating.

Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Derr of Roanoke, arrived in the city Wednesday night in answer to a telegram announcing the death of Mr. Derr's father.

OBITUARY - ROANOKE NEWS
Mrs. E. V. Derr

Mrs. E. V. Derr died at her son's residence yesterday morning at 10 o'clock, aged eighty-four years of afflictions incident to old age.

Mrs. Derr was the mother of Mr. Oscar Derr, formerly postmaster of Roanoke, with whom she has been living for some time past at the residence, 1015 Chapman Avenue, s.w.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, being conducted by Rev. W. L. Richardson, pastor of the Belmont Baptist church. The pall bearers will be as follows: Captain Wortham, W. S. McClanahan, J. T. Bobbitt, C. W. Saunders, C. T. Michael, Joel H. Cutchin, Geo W. Ammen.

Enterment will take place at Fairview.

OBITUARY - RICHMOND TIMES-DISPATCH
Mrs. Elizabeth V. Derr

ROANOKE, VA May 11 - Mrs. Elizabeth V. Derr, widow of the late Charles S. Derr, died this morning at the residence of her son, O. D. Derr, aged eighty-four years. She was a native of Lynchburg and had been residing with her son in Roanoke about a year.

She is survived by one other son, Arthur Derr, who is now in the penitentiary, sent there for swindling his parents out of a large legacy left by Rush U. Derr. The case created a great sensation at the time.

OBITUARY - THE NEWS - TUESDAY MORNING MAY 12, 1903
Death of Mrs. Derr

Mrs. Elizabeth V. Derr, widow of the late Charles Derr, died this morning at the residence of her son, O. D. Derr, No. 1009 Patterson Avenue, at 10 o'clock from stomach trouble, aged 84 years.

The deceased was a native of Lynchburg and had been residing with her son in Roanoke about a year. She was a consistent member of the Baptist church. She is surved by one other son, Arthur Derr.
